The Robin Redbreast is the only bird which sings continuously throughout the dark Irish winters and is one of the very few small birds that choose to winter in Ireland. It is this enduring spirit which inspires its namesake Redbreast whiskey.
This special whiskey was distilled and laid down in the Midleton distillery in march, 1998 in creating this edition of Redbreast Single Cask for La Maison Du Whisky, a first fill Oloroso Sherry Butt, which had been maturing uninterrupted for 19 years, was selected from warehouse no. M13a.
The cask was hand selected exclusively by master blender, Billy Leighton, in collaboration with La Maison Du Whisky.
Nose: hints of dried fruit with a little marzipan note and honey with clove spice and touches of leather. A slight zesty note works well with vanilla adding sweetness to the overall complexity.
Taste: initial round. Mouth-coating texture with rich toffee notes the original sweet zest takes on an orange liqueur characteristic with a nuttiness developing over time playing on the tannins of the Spanish oak.
Finish: the finish continues effortlessly. Summing up the overall complexity of this whiskey.
